Efficient to level as shadow?

Hey all,
I played Vanilla as a hunter so being a priest is new to me in this sense. I've started levelling as Shadow technically since I've put 5 points into Spirit Tap (God bless this talent). Right now my strategy for killing mobs has been PW:S -> Mind Blast -> SW:P -> Wand till dead. This seems to be working pretty well for me so I'm considering putting 5 points into wand damage and then continuing down the shadow tree, is this a decent idea for levelling? Or am I screwing myself by trying to level as shadow and not Holy for example. Any tips would be appreciate, thanks!

get 5 points in wand and keep going down shadow, respec at 40 for shadowform to level to 60 and do whatever

Dude, if you want to heal and shadow.....Just put 2 points in the 70% not to disrupt heals and the rest shadow. You should be good healing parties well into your 30s if not 40s.

I've actually found it extremely quick to level with dots and wanding, I don't see how he could be incorrect.

While I do find your detailed explanation of priest leveling mechanics compelling, I feel that your conclusion regarding wand spec fails to take drinking down time and the 5 second rule of mana regeneration into consideration.

As lvl 30 disc priest I can kill mobs my own lvl fast with very little downtime. Disc is, without doubt, the way to go until atleast lvl 40.

Yea, Wand spec is the best way to go, at least early on in the game. Really does make leveling faster from that early stage to middle stage.
