Healing Priest Build

Healing Priest Build

by Kunivin721 » Sun Mar 08, 2015 5:48 pm

Hey, this is the (almost exact) build I had for my lvl 60 healer.

http://www.wowprovider.com/?talent=1121 ... 313021551q

This is only for lvl 60 PvE healing, as you can see I have 0 points in Wand Spec, Searing Light, and the whole Shadow Tree. Obviously to level up you would need to spend some points (5/5 Wand spec) and maybe some points in Shadow to help your damage while against questing mobs.

Feel free to reply if you would make any changes for this end game PvE build :)

I was under the assumption that Light Well is pretty much useless in any and every context, so I'd take that point and put it into Divine Fury to shorten casting times. Same with the 1 point in Blessed Recovery, as 0.5 sec quicker Greater Heal sounds more useful than 6 sec self-HoT after a critical hit that only heals 8%.

But I haven't raided as a priest so I could easily be mistaken.

I'd go with this build instead

You know what, Lightwell is useless. When I saw it on the talent tree I got all excited because I havent seen it in awhile, but I remember the long 10min cool down and no Mdps or tanks clicking on it xD

Thanks a lot, I'm definitely going to change my previous build:)

Healing focus is way too important to skip. If you really plan to die a lot and just can't give up spirit of redemption, then at least take 1 point out of Mental Agility and put it in Divine spirit.

This is the standard cookie-cutter build, I usually pick Holy Nova instead of 1 point in Healing Focus because it's a lot of fun and I'm too lazy to respec for PVP.

Lightwell, people have to click it and is cancelled upon taking damage? Yeah It's pretty garbage.

Spirit of Redemption is "Improved Death" like the night elf racial ability, you don't want to die in the first place!

Healing Focus is nice but as a healer you shouldn't really have anyone whacking on you in a raid, most people will have 1-2 points in this.

Holy Nova isn't good at healing/damaging at all but rank 1 can be used to tag mobs/ find rogues in PVP.

Many fights result in taking damage and suffering pushback. Vael is impossible if your healers don't all have anti-pushback talents, loose welps are common on onyxia, kazzak has an un-avoidable shadow bolt volley, etc.

Every raid instance has several fights where healing focus is critical. The highest value you can get out of 2 talents points is in this talent.

Edit: Oh and imp renew doesn't stack with +heal, it only increases the base healing of renew by 15%. Renew also doesn't stack, two priests can't have renew on the same target. Even worse, if a second priest casts renew < 3.0 seconds after you do, yours doesn't even tick before the duration is reset. As a result, renew doesn't get used that often in raids (unless your guild has a dedicated priest for renew spam, in which case you should have 3/3).

I've done all the fights you've listed with the exception of Kazzak without the Healing Focus talent, but you do bring up some good points with the renew talent being pretty useless, now that I look at it.

If Improved Renew only increases the base renew healing without healing/spell-power then it IS pretty bad, and the reduced pushback would certainly be better if that is the case.

We did have a "dedicated renewer" in our guild (the priest had the highest +healing won that spot, and it wasn't a very sought after position), but as far as I know most priests used the build I linked (and they always laughed at me picking the Holy Nova talent).

Thanks for the information, and I'm going to agree with you that now Healing Focus looks like it is by far the better pick out of the two.

Too bad there is no Circle of Healing haha, I used to waste points just to use that. Also explains why I never got passed BT xD

Circle of Healing and Lightwell both were really useful in Cataclysm.
