Is it viable to level as Holy?

Hello, Priestly people!
Been playing a Raidtankadin, and it's fuckin' awesome. That said, he pretty much has all his ducks in a row gearwise, and my guild is still in the process of forming its raid core. It looks like it may take about a month or two before we have the man power to tackle a 40man without resorting to pugs, so I thought that in the meantime, I would make a primary alt around my other MMO passion, Healing.
Pallyhealing in PvP is one of the most intense situations one can find himself in, in this game, and I highly recommend that those of you with Pally alts try it. In PvE, however, it's like playing a Frost Mage, except when you go AFK to grab another beer mid fight, people will cry. I tried a Healing Druid, and although they have more buttons to press, my understanding of them in raids compared to hpallies is like going from a Frost Mage to a Fire Mage; more buttons to press in a fight, but you're still mostly spamming one.
That leaves me with Priests. Back on p99, I played an epic Dwarven Cleric, which is much like a Holy Priest that wears Plate and has the nukes of both a Priest and a Pally. So I rolled a Dorf Priestess here. I scored a non-misspelled name from David Eddings for her, too. She's almost 10 now, and it's awesome.
I know the standard leveling route involves going Shadow until 58-60 when you either stay Shadow and become a spriest, or you spec Holy and start making the bars go right, instead. For flavor reasons, I'd prefer to avoid any more than 5 points in Shadow (for Spirit Tap), and try leveling with something like this: https://en.nostalrius.org/talents/pries ... 0000000000
The idea is to Heal in groups, but still be able to solo quest when I have to. I know it's not optimal, but if it can get me to 50 or higher in 2 months of regular play, I don't care. Inordinately long for me would be 4 or more months of growing a festive neckbeard at my keyboard to ding 60. Will it take me that long, this way? Have any of you done it? If so, would you modify my build to make it more effective without putting any more points in Shadow? I'm not interested in optimizing myself for Healing prior to level 58, I do this solely for flavor reasons.
Any feedback from those of you who leveled as non-Shadow would be super, but your comments are welcome, too. Thanks!
