Pet trailing distance

Pet trailing distance

by Hawksworth » Mon Mar 09, 2015 5:23 pm

Hello all

When I am running my imp is trailing really far behind me. I cannot remember if this was how it was with lock pets in vanilla as I never played one, I did however play a hunter and seem to recall my cat never trailing this far behind me, he was always right by my side unless I sicced him on someone.

Anyone else finding this? Is it some kind of pathing problem or a bug maybe?

Regards

this is a bug. it should follow you at a slightly higher pace so it always is by your side...it got later fixed on retail by your pet vanishing as you mount up and reoccur when dismounting.
another issue is that the pet should be flightly faster than you running when set to attack a target.
one more: when you get slowed down by anything your pet also get slowed, think its because its movementspeed is linked to the speed of the player.
last one: if you set your pet to attack a target and it doesnt have line of sight, its not doing anything. this is a severe issue cause you cant rangepull anything that is eg. in a house sitting around the corner or over a small hill

Same. It's really annoying, pet lags like 10 yards behind me aggroing mobs I thought I had already run past. Seems to be the same for hunter pets too.

They also follow enemy players until the end of time when commanded to attack, even if they stealth. But don't tell anyone about that one :-----DDDD

Not a bug in itself :).

What about when you're running through mobs and your pet aggro's something and it magically slows down, now you have to sit there waiting for it or keep running till he despawns then you have to spend 10 secs and 1/4 of your mana summoning a new one. wtf is this. Even more noticeable with an epic mount.

Can also confirm the pet trailing bug. Haven't been able to submit it to the bugtracker because it won't let me create (validate) my account.

100% how it worked on retail vanilla. This was fixed late TBC, because of its mad potential in arena.

Pet trailing isn't going to go away. Unfortunately, you'd better get used to it, and figure out routes where your pet won't straggle too far behind you.

Do you think you could explain why? I really am curious. There is only one private server that accomplished this. Is it because of some insurmountable technical hurdle? Or just workload overall? It breaks the immersion for me more than anything, that's why I ask.
