Drain Life cancelling out other Warlock's DL?

Another warlock from my guild was with me in SM yesterday and we noticed that our Drain Life beams were cancelling each other... whoever started second would cause the first one to drop. Not always right away... but it definitely abbreviated the channeling time.
We also noticed our debuffs pushing others off but I've read up on the 8 limit.

So is that how it's supposed to be? Only 1 DL on a target? Is DL counted as one of the 8 and that's why one gets pushed off?
Is there a generally acknowledged workaround for when there are 2 warlocks in a 5 man instance? Tanks seem to get cranky when we split ourselves between targets.

You cannot use dots/beams while in a group. Get used to it.


Your grouped spells are Shadow Bolt and Searing Pain, and you will always be low dps on the pole because of it... until 60 when you become God.

OK, interesting.

Strangely, yesterday I was grouped again with another warlock and we didn't seem to be having issues with our DL beams cancelling each other.
I have started using shadow bolt more... and COE seems to stay up better than COA was.

I would be willing to bet it has more to do with 8 debuff slots than rank.
