I played a Warlock back in TBC and only in battlegrounds where things are rather chaotic and you rarely get "fair" 1:1-fights. What I noticed back then was that those classes that you are supposed to beat simply run away. Those who stay and fight usually kill you. In reality it was much harder than in those Drakedog-Videos. In fact, the only viable build for me was NF/SL and the class started to become viable after I got a few resilience-items.
Here is a list:
- Warriors usually resist a ton and prevent you from escaping
- Hunters interrupt like mad, do a ton of damage fast and their pet can become annoying also
- Paladins will just bubble/heal and run away, so it's a draw in the end
- Druids either act similar to rogues with the ability to escape or will just heal all damage away, draw also
- Holy Priests will just heal away all your damage until you go OOM, since they can't kill you either it's a draw
- Shadowpriests are very similar in abilities to Warlocks, so it's pretty much an even fight
- Shaman will just heal away all your damage - no idea how good enhancers are (they can 1-shot)
- Alliance Warlocks are lacking WotF, so as undead you got an edge
That's how it was in TBC Battlegrounds. I am curious to see how it turns out in Vanilla. It is also interesting to see how the class plays on a private server where certain core-abilities may turn out to be bugged/useless.
Hint: Pick up engineering for Catseye Ultra Goggles. Stealth Detection is a must!
Disclaimer: I must admit that Warlock overall doesn't seem to fit my style well. In retail I got every class to 85 except Warrior and it seems to me that my best fit is to play a healer. Know your limitations! The reason why I chose Warlock on Nostalrius is to find out how the class plays out in Vanilla where they were supposed to be pretty decent.
