Warlock PvP

Hello all,
I just wanted to ask a few questions and maybe get a thread for discussing Warlock PvP in vanilla and the finer points of it.
For the most part my lock right now is in the mid 20's, running affliction for leveling and have a couple of questions on PvP. My vanilla main was a warrior and then had a rogue and shaman alts so the only caster pvp is new to me in vanilla.
For the most part when either getting the jump on someone or someone getting the jump on me in wpvp its the usual DoT, Fear, Drain/SB spam depending on the class or situation. There might even be an opening with fear if i am jumped. Is this the general direction of Warlock PvP here? Or am i missing something crucial because i seem to come out on the short end of a good number of the fights I have, almost always using a healthstone and sometimes my SS if i'm feeling salty about getting beat, instead of waiting for them to run off.
So minus specific curses for different classes like exhaustion and tongues, also do not have the felhunter yet and about a level away from seduction. Am i glaringly messing something up or is it just my current level range/gear level? Since I havent run an instance yet(trying to level as quickly as possible on this toon).
But for background, running with a VW for leveling and because I am sitting at 25 so no seduction. I will dot, fear, SB/drain depending on the class if i get the jump and then continue to try and fearlock them. If they get the jump i will usually sacrifice if the opening was big enough (rogue, druid, mage, hunter getting the jump) and then go to get the dots in and then fear, or should I always open with a fear on that one? Looking for some input and some discussion, thanks all for your time.
