Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hi, I'm new to Vanilla all-together and after a few days of making, remaking, and deleting characters, I've finally settled on making a gnome warlock. So what spec should I play? And I'm still not quite sure how Vanilla specs work yet either, so can anyone enlighten(or endarken) me on that as well?

I personally always played Affliction during leveling. Starting a 30/0/21 build. I think that's the most reliable spec in term of survival, dps and fun.
Some people like to play in Destruction build, but I don't recommand it in low level, this is an awful mana eater.
And about Demonologic spec, I really never played it (except in Soul Link build when 60 in PvP) so I couldn't tell you about it.

What I'm doing now is to get talents until Siphon of Life, then putting points in destruction tree to reach Ruin, and then finish the Affliction tree until Shadow Mastery (get 10% shadow damage before 55-60 isn't really worth it in my opinion).

For Pex Skuggor choice is good. But for now the Voidwalker threat had been greatly nerfed so I suggest you to take ( and test for me ) 3/3 demonology talent for +30% efficiency of VW spells.

For raids there is not much possibility due to the debuff limit ( 8 to 16 in patch 1.7 ). Because of that almost every warlock will have something like this : http://www.wowprovider.com/?talent=1122 ... 5002000100

It's the well-known spam shadow bolt spec, because it was almost the only spec usable in raid. Thx BC to let us play something else with debuff limit pushed to 40 for resized raid to 10/25.

Prefering imp Corrupt for comfort purpose (but that's my playstyle). But Suppresion in indeed the best choice for an only raiding warlocks !

About the VW threat, unfortunatly, this is blizzlike ^^ Near level 40, you'll soon abandon him to get your imp out or your succubus (even your felhunter if you're the pvp pexing type !).
