Resto PvP

So i started playing with the intention to pvp together with a warrior buddy of mine and seeing as i played resto shaman throughout retail with relative success in pvp i was hoping to do a similar thing in vanil. Can it be done and how should i approach it?

Im currently looking into a resto build orientated a little more towards pvp but im still finding it difficult to weigh up the value of certain talents because i cant afford to fork out shit loads of gold testing out each spec. The talents that im unsure about are:

Earths Grasp - Obliviously Stoneclaws a piece of turd but im undecided on whether +2 yards on Earthbind will have any impact on the time enemies are snared will it apply that extra tick i want during those 2yards..
Call of Flame- Not entirely sure how useful fire totems are in a pvp scene yet, nor if a 3 point investment is even worth it.
Improved Lightning Shield - Now i love lightning shield but again just like above a 15% increase for 3 points, is it worth it?
Guardian Totems - I dont rate Stoneskin at all to be honest but -2sec off grounding sounds pretty sweet to me
Elemental Warding - Funnily enough i remember debating on this talent back in the day, 5 years later and im still unsure about it.

What are your thoughts on the value of these talents and generally playing resto in a pvp environment?

for a purely pvp build, just going from my play style and things I would want, I would do this:

http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#hZEb00hxzZVcxt0xq

We shamans have no instant heals, no absorbs, and no immunities. If you get trained you will die and this build will focus on survivng the onslaught of melee that will destroy you. I didnt put any points in imp mana spring because most pvp fights wont last very long, and no points in imp healing wave because you will probably be spamming lesser HW

Thanks for your input

I agree with focusing on surviving melee attackers as a shaman but both block and parry require attackers to be in front of you, in a pvp environment i would expect attackers to attack from the rear which kind of nullify the value from these talents. Whats your opinion on this?

Usually i would spec into improved ghost wolf to aid kiting but if you are adopting a tactic to remain facing your enemies i could see why you might not

Yes rogues will always attack you from behind, warriors however generally just charge straight at your face. Parry will only have like 5% chance to happen, but RNG is RNG and you could parry a mortal strike and a whirlwind back to back. Parry wont work will casting but i would say its useful at the beginning of an attack. When im sitting there hard casting after whomever is attacking me has used their interupt, i just track them to face them as long as i know i can keep tabs on the other people im healing.

imp ghost wolf is good, that build was pure survivability which is why i put in dodge instead. What ever your preference is.
