Leveling-healing Build Recommendations

Leveling-healing Build Recommendations

by somerandomweirdguy » Tue Aug 11, 2015 5:13 am

This is my first vanilla experience since vanilla itself, and I was a shitter back then so I honestly have no idea what I'm doing now. At the moment I was planning on healing as I level up, is that viable as paladin? Or is healing really only good for end game?

If it is viable, how should I be investing my talents? I've heard that you can just stick all your points into ret/prot and still heal fine, but it's been so damn long that I honestly don't remember much about this class.

I am also curious about this as I am level 40 and about to make the transition from tank to healer as a friend is levelling as a tank warrior (just makes sense)

Level as Ret. Repentance is a great talent at 40 since you can use it to give yourself time to pump two Holy Lights onto yourself if needed.

Grab Seal of Command, but don't use it unless you have a 3.6 Speed or slower. The proc chance is too low for faster weapons.

If you have a faster weapon that 3.6 Speed (which you will most of the time) you will want to use Seal of the Crusader. Just auto-attack mobs down with Seal of the Crusader active.

When doing dungeons, you can heal just fine in Ret spec. You can even heal in Ret spec at 60 in dungeons and even raids, but I wouldn't heal as Ret during progression.

To heal while leveling, just slap on whatever gear you have that has Int. Give yourself Blessing of Wisdom, and give the tank Blessing of Light when you get it (Level 40). When you get Blessing of Light, you can use Rank 1 Holy Light for solid sustained healing with a low cost.

This guide is really good. Check out the Race and Leveling section.

For this you should spec the first 11 points into Holy to get Consecration and afterwards you are more or less free to spec what you want to. This is what all discussions agree on within the forums. The interesting part is afterwards. For solo action you can use a shield, put some more points into the protection tree and use this to kill multiple mobs at the same time or do a decent job in 5 man instances. Or you grab a two hander and use up your Points in the Retribution Tree to do a bit more damage. You are in general able to heal with both versions, the important part for healing is not your talent points while leveling up, but your gear. So when green stuff "of the Eagle" or "of Healing" drops keep it. This way you can heal through dungeons while leveling that will yield some nice items.
