Tanking and Holy Spec

Tanking and Holy Spec

by Rokka » Tue Oct 13, 2015 5:24 pm

Hey!

I've been playing in Nostralrius for a quite while, changing between Horde and Alliance, changing between the classes until realized to finally return to Paladin which is still the class I love playing with. :)
While quick search didn't give me really results, I wanted to hear bit opinions how likely it's possible to tank some late game dungeons (not raids, duh) with deep Holy spec, going to deep as getting a Holy Shock. And can be build be made with such spec reasonably.
I personally enjoy a lot playing both Healer and Tank but my mood about which role I wish to play changes really often so I wanted to hear if that's fully possible idea.

I personally can't attest to late-game dungeons, but I can tank mid-game dungeons just fine with my Holy/Retribution spec.

It's doable, you'll mostly be losing out on threat generation if you don't go for improved Righteous Fury and a small amount of survivability.

Unless you really want Holy Shock for some reason I'd recommend going for something like

Yeah, Blessing of Sanctuary sounds pretty nice! I imagine agro is no issue with Consecration, BoS and Improved Righteous Furry. Everything around you is going to get pretty pissed!

Holy shock can be used as a sub taunt, but loosing BoSanctuary is not worth it imo.

Yeah Improved Righteous Fury was getting kind of obvious choice with Holy Shock too. But I do say I am sucker for Holy Shock, I like how straight-forward spell it is with also being so versatile.
I am actually tempted to try how well Holy Shock would function as pseudo-taunt when combined with Divine Favor and Righteous Fury. Just to make big effort to disappoint others later because of possible impossibility. ;P

But BoSanctuary sounds like being quite big thing which is difficult to give up from. I assume this is big assisting spell for tanking just because of reduced damage too.

Yes you can Tank as Holy , and use Holy Shock as Taunt and range pulling , but remember it is not efficient for Tanking as you will be Squishy a bit.

Try that Spec , use retri aura + consecration . improved sor is optional since in 5 man most important are sow/jow and consecration spam max rank . (holy shock as taunt only) .

Say you wanted to heal for raids, but Tank for dungeons, plus only wanted one talent build.
Try this 31/20/0 Talent build.
This gives you the standard Holy Tree builds with everything you want when you heal, plus enough points into Protection that should help you out in 5 man tanking. Keep in mind, since your more holy then protection you will not be as tough as a normal Tankadin since you lack certain abilities (Sanctuary & Holy Shield). you can always switch certain talents around (such as 3/3 Precision 2/5 Toughness instead of 5/5 Toughness), but again if your going for 5 mans and you got decent gear (say Deathbone once its updated) it will be easy to AOE tank any 5 man in Classic Wow (Vanilla). Enjoy
