How do you not get perma kited as Ret?

How do you not get perma kited as Ret?

by Santana » Mon Oct 19, 2015 11:31 am

BoF only has 50% uptime, but even then you don't have any gap closing or speed increase to get to a ranged target. If you spec for Repentance... that's still just 20 yards to get a soft stun on a 1 min CD.

Is this just how it was for Paladins in Vanilla... getting kited a lot?

Basically... Although Engineering helps a lot! Grenades - with a little practice - will stun a fleeing opponent for a few seconds. The Death Ray - while bubbled - will end a dual with a quickness. You also have Gnomish/Goblin Rocket Boots, Net-O-Mattic Projector, and maybe a few other items I can't think of.

Of course, the Pursuit of Justice talent helps as well.

Pursuit of Justice is something that kill Ranges. BoF with it's 50% uptime make this happen easy to kill Range .
Repentance and HoJ kill them like cake.

Reck/Ret is maybe op against Melee but is weak against Range .
Deep Ret with Pursuit + Eye + Repentance in combination with Consecration (against invisible rogue) is Range Killer.

This patch has a shitty PoJ. Talented BoF is also 80% uptime but whos counting.

the short answer of this question is that Holy is the only real pvp spec. its flat out better, for solo queing and premades. it isn't even bad in 1v1. You can carry a game so hard as a holy paladin, cant as easily as a ret.

one of the reason arms warriors are more desirable in premades is that they can stick on their target. especially with a holy paladin backing them up!

Yet a Frost Mage can kite an Arms Warrior from one tip of Kalimdor to the other with only rank 1 Frostbolt...

As far as being kited as Ret, pickup the Guardian's Favour talent that's tier 2 in the Protection talent tree - not only does it reduce your cd on Blessing of Protection by 2 mins, but it also INCREASES the duration of your Blessing of Freedom by 6 seconds - making you only kiteable for 2 seconds overall as opposed to 8.

I'd also recommend levelling up engineering to make grenades, rocket helm, and the net trinket.

yes, warriors are the most cc'able class.

that doesnt change the fact that holy is the proper/supperior pvp spec. you can't carry with ret as easily or as strongly as you can as a holy pally. a strong healer makes or breaks a battleground.

you simply dont know the paladin class well or WoWs basic pvp mechanics if you think otherwise. You are gimping yourself, your potential, and your teams/premades by not being holy.

holy might even have more favorable 1v1 matchups then ret

ret only really makes sense to bully people when you vastly outgear them, but for serious pvping, its only holy.

anyone who says ret is for pvp is basically immediately instantly admitting they dont know shit about paladins or wow pvp mechanics.

I can definitely see why people shy away from Holy. Literally just spam flash of light for days, holy light coeff bugged and no one cares or notices because no one uses it.

This is now the stupidest thing you have said thus far in your time trolling Paladin posts - and that's saying a lot!

Do tell us exactly how a Holy Paladin can win a 1v1 matchup by either wearing our Tier 1 or 2 gear which have no spell dmg on them to speak of, or whether they are wearing 5/10 man cloth/leather items with only +healing stats?

So let's summarize for our readers shall we:
- little to no STR on our Tier gear to boost auto-attack
- no spell damage to boost anything in Holy's arsenal
- nothing but +healing from BiS Holy 5/10 man dungeons
- LOL Holy Shock on a 30 second cd

Is that what you are trying to tell me and the others who may have unfortunately come across yet another of your rambles?
