Paladin Ret on the Raiding Life

you are wrong. realm players shows that top hunters do more damage then top rets, this is shown on many servers/projects, many guillds, many raids.. Im also not a hunter fanboy. reckoning is multiple attacks, not one. the animation might be one swing, but the game calculates it as multiple attacks, not 1.

ret is a poor dps spec, no matter how you try and spin it. suitable for a casual guild/pug raid. its high burst, low dps. know the class.

the aoe tanking niche is so small and trivial that it doesnt matter in practicality, its a few pulls at best. Horde are perfectly capable of aoe tanking with warriors. Its not impossible to effectively aoe tank on a warrior with reactive disk, nagelring, thorns, fireshield, ret aura etc... (a nice aoe tank macro helps too)

Its a weak counter-arguement as it doesnt mean that guilds should scramble to recruit a prot paladins.....it can be filled by a ret pally or holy which is more useful than a prot pally for the rest of raid.

i understand the ret pride, but know the class. holy just has more potential endgame no matter what. better for raiding and pvp :S

you do realize that with 8 debuff slots and consecration taking up a hidden debuff slot (meaning it won't tick at all), that a Ret Paladin is missing out on at least 100-150 DPS

conversely, we can't put up judgement of the crusader and use Seal of Command instead for the very same 8 debuff slot reason

no other class and/or spec is as bugged as Ret

Seal of Command gets 100% of crusader debuff damage instead of 43% here - beneficial bug
Consecration scales off AP instead of SP - beneficial bug
Seal of the Crusader does 40% more damage than intended - beneficial bug

Paladins still not competitive at DPS. Hmmm. Same deal with ferals and stone + weap enchant.

FYI as well:

Currently Sanctity Aura does not affect a wide range of paladin spells such as the damage produced by seal of command.

As quoted directly from Blizzard WoW Patch Burning Crusade Patch 2.0.1 "(05-Dec-2006): Consecration doesn't scale with attack power anymore."

It scaled with ap throughout the entire existance of vanilla and this was only removed during the burning crusade

shows gear at the start, 800 ap runs sanctity aura. On a war in zerk stance with judged crusader and a crusader enchant proc hes doing 86 a tick with consecration, it was a higher rank based on the mana missing. He breaks 100 a few times with the ZG trinket though.

All the consecrations breaking 100 that I saw were with the ZG trinket on. I was doing 60/s consecration without judged crusader or sanctity at 43, which is what it does with sanctity and jotc at 60 with no scaling.

I'm not really on a crusade to get it nerfed, just bringing it to everyones attention that this has been in the game since release, just like the holy light bug. Fun fun.

The problem you face is that you are going up against a very clear and succinct official Blizzard Patch note which specifically says otherwise.

Likewise you have to remember that pretty much every single spell/talent/ability that Paladins had changed significantly over the course of Vanilla (sometimes the same ability changing multiple times - just like the stats and set bonuses of our Tier armour).

Even I don't remember every single change or slight alteration that went through for the class/spec.

Well I do remember consecration not doing the same DPS as an AoE SW:P since I farmed many many lowbie dungeons for rare drops in Vanilla. Anyway I just want my HL scaling fixed.

If there's one thing that I learned from my time on Peenix it's that Paladins bugs aren't on the top priority list for Devs overall. That's not a slight to the dev there or here on Nostalrius, just an overall observation as to the way things work testing and bug fixing go.

Even though I haven't played on Peenix for almost a year since I got banned, most the bugs that I discovered, researched and wrote up still haven't been fixed there.
