Paladin Raid Roles?

Paladin Raid Roles?

by Eclipze » Sat Oct 17, 2015 2:30 pm

I keep being told that vanilla Pala is shit for endgame (raiding) PVE, people don't want them as tanks nor healers or DPS. since i never played Pala in vanilla i don't really know.
So my question is, What are valid roles for Paladins in Vanilla Raiding?
Is it worth leveling up a pala if i only intend to do PVE?

Paladins are excellent as healer in raids.

Paladins are excellent healers and, much to the frustration of many a paladin, dispelers extraordinaire.

The optimal number of paladins in a raid is either 4 or 5, because of the superbly beneficial buffs they provide.

I posted this link a few threads ago, but I'll post it again here: http://realmplayers.com/RaidStats/BossList.aspx?realm=NRB

Paladins actually beat Priests in raid HPS sometimes.

Also, furry Warriors top the DPS charts more than twice as often as Rogues.

Healer paladins are very strong in pve, the 1.5 sec cast means they top the meters very well.

holy pallys are also exceptional in pvp, a strong healing paladin in a battleground throws around alot of weight, and is very disrerable for premades. they can shrug off meelee, which is huge in vanilla pvp.

most of the comments you are hearing is probably related to ret/prot, which is more or less true. besides some few trash pulls in MC/suppression rooms, prot paladins are not really useful or needed. good guilds dont use any, and casual guilds will usually use a ret or holy pally in tanking gear for the small ammount of pulls pallys superb aoe tanking shines. but for the huge bosses, its warrior all the way.

ret, doesnt do very good dps. and it will be very competitve/hard to find a casual raiding guild that will take you. You need to pull out all the stop and try very hard to do middle/bottom tier dps on a ret, that same level of effort on any other class would be more dps

holy paladins are great endgame! once you get pre-raid bis you will have no issues finding a guild.

In vanilla, Paladins are basically a healing class in end game. BC adds some more flavor in terms of tanking. (See what I did there...?)

Off Topic.

None of the comments mention any of this.
