It becomes a waste of 5 points, but not without merit, this allows you to get 3/3 Shield Spec which increases your shield absorb by 30%.

So my question is how useful is it be for Tankadins who stay 440 Def?

Is it useful to stay just under the Def Cap for the Proc on trash? Could perhaps swop out shields for it to proc on trash.

You don't want to be without Shield Absorb , improved Devotion Aura is inefficient and terrible damage reduction compare to Shield Absorb.

My Paladin in Peenix not even BiS was blocking 220 Damage , if we reduce this 220 Damage / 3 = 73 Damage per Block.

Imp Devotion Aura can be gain by either Healer Paladin but still is most terrible choice since it doesn't even reduce the damage taken by 1% .

re-read the topic. There is a question there, when you read it and understand, you will have your answer.

Tanking with Redoubt, but defense capped?

In order to go for Protection Tier Talent points you have to choose Redoubt or Improved Devotion Aura.

Tanking without Protection Talent tree is not Tanking and aggro inefficient .

This part should of indicated to you that it is needed to keep the Talent. Which also means there is no need to assume this discussion was about Imp Devo.

Now to answer you this : Without Shield that have Defense i don't believe that you will keep Def Cap , once you Shield Swap Def cap will be removed and Redoubt will proc so high from Trash .

It is only recommend and good only for using "Force Reactive Shield" and nothing else which "named" Shield is honestly glitch and should not work with Spell Damage.

this wasn't answered. This talks about Shield Spec, not redoubt. so no you didn't answer. I explained that we need shield spec in my first post.

Duki, what JC wants to know is whether it would be worth it to intentionally eat crits @ 440 Def in order to proc Redoubt, since it only procs on crits and is a big ass chunk of our Block Chance.

JC, I don't think 440 Def is even possible until late AQ40 (possibly early Naxx), but if eating a crit every 10sec to proc Redoubt is beneficial, why not just /sit?
