Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

So several weeks ago, I was talking shop with a Prot War by the name of Joujou when the subject of threat rotations came up. He was quite surprised when I told him that Pallies don't have one. This sat on the back burner of my mind until a few days ago, when I healed a Scholo group being Tanked by a Pally named Broligar. He was a type of Ret spec, but in full Prot gear. He was a friggin' MACHINE, pulling packs one after another, breaking only when I ended a pull low on mana. As a Pallyhealer, I needed to stop to drink two, maybe three times the whole run. He drank even less often. We blazed through that place like we were a team of plus sized models doing a photo shoot at a Chinese buffet. We even did Barov Family Fortune, and it was still the quickest Scholo I had ever been a part of.

The DPS consisted of trigger happy Gnomes and a hyperactive Rogue. They went bangety-bang and stabity-stab quickity-quick. He never once lost aggro. He was also wearing decent gear, but as our Tank gear has almost Zero threat stats on it atm, I began wondering if it was all in his technique. Do we, in fact, have a threat rotation that I am not aware of? If so, what would it be?

Depend on fights and depend on situation .

Examples :

AoE (with long duration killing) = sow-consecration-jow-sow-consecration - melee swing (if duration is so long) you can even use 3rd consecration (holy shield is by your choice depend on situation).

Single (assuming Bossfight) = SoTc - Holy Shield (pre pull) - Consecration - JoTc - SoR - Consecration (non important) - Holy Shield - Refresh SoR each 30 seconds and enjoy drinking your coffee .

But it all depend on situation . This was just example .

Paladin 1-0-1 (nostalrius bugged edition 05.12.2015):

- have righteous fury activ100% of the time
- use consecration rank 1 as it currently scales with ap making it deal great dmg for low mana
- use the highest rank of seal of the crusader as it is really broken/bugged atm (make sure to use it before consecration it will make consecration deal more dmg)
- use retribution aura
- never use judgement as it only cost mana and isn't really needed as our other broken abilities are enough
- buff all dps blessing of salvation
- buff yourself with wisdom(manareg), Kings(allrounder), might(dps and threat) or sanctuary(mitigation and threat) depending on what u think you need
- always wait 1sec after consecration CD is rdy again to get another manareg tick
- always rebuff your seal before consecration to make sure you get 2 manareg ticks in your consecration

If you follow these rules you will never be oom on lvl 60. I Tanked all dungeons in game with these rules and the following spec. Never really having any real threat or mana issues. It's not the best in terms of mitigation but that isn't needed for dungeons.

Just got done with Strat Live, and my God, I never tanked so horribly in my life...

Adds, adds, more adds, and MOAR DAMN ADDS!!!111!1! Dealing with adds has always been my biggest problem, as I go oom dealing with them, and I STILL don't always get aggro. Our 2 HUNTERS, in pre-raid gear, could fire just one Arc Shot, and BOOM, no more aggro! I thought they were using Distracting Shot, for God's sake...

Granted, this was my first time Tanking this place, ever, but my threat was garbage, adds happened constantly, I had no insight into positioning or LoS, and I swear, all a Hunter had to do to pull aggro was land ONE Arc Shot. I know RF was up the whole time. I was constantly oom. It's like God just opened up His ass, and crapped all over my run...

Suki, I just simply cannot comprehend how you can use max rank consc exclusively and never need to drink. Justclassic, I try getting away with r1, but it hasn't been enough since DM East. I think the heart of my problem, aside frommlack of Vanilla experience, is mana management. Is there any way I can get some hands-on time with you in game for a lesson in proper mana management?

Finally, this was largely a guild run. DPS never focused my target during AoE (we had 2 Hunters, and a Rogue. I suppose I should have more agresively marked. But peeling aggro off someone who has it is VERY hard for me. Please tell me how you guys deal with adds during a pull, becasue what I'm doing just simply isn't working.

ok for strat , you should be aware on some pulls you have to aoe 5yards before you engage adds, ask your healer to not "renew" (or any other hot) while pulling . Poke and nuke casters 1st (sow/jow and consec max rank) twice = enough should be.

TheFishyOne, if dps doesnt target your target then no Consecration in the world can hold aggro against a mob you are not currently hitting. Just ask for lead and mark with "skull" the target your are curently focusing so dps knows which one to attack else its a bit hard to hold agro.
I usually, key bind "mark skull" to middle mouse button and just press it whenever I change target. Otherwise in dungeons just use SotC+Consecration r1-5. Have in mind if you keep loosing aggro you might wanna go for rank 2 or rank 3 Consecration. Or use maxrank Consecration once then rank1 once for each pull(if tthe dps is epix t2 you might wanna maxrank once at start )

Anyways, Paladin tanking in Scholo and Strat is incredibly easy since they can use Exorcism and Holy Wrath, which are Holy, and our only threat talent increases our threat from only Holy sources. So I wouldn't credit him with anything.

As far as TPS goes, you have a priority, and that's Consecration > Holy Shield.... and that's it. Ret Aura and Consecrate should be more than enough to hold aggro on pretty much anything if you are talented for improved Righteous Fury. Start off with a max rank Consecrate, then spam R1 for the rest of the fight.

i did strat living last night with a great dps group ( 2 Warlocks + 1 Mage) and an Holy Priest, and i had no problems with aggro. In pre raid bis i used:

• Righteous Fury allways active on me + Blessing of Sanctuary and Retribution Aura on me + Blessing of Salvation on each other;
• Before mage sheep i pullled by proximity and then i used consecration + Holy Shield (mobs here use disarm, so you just wait to be hit by them and let the Holy Shield + Consecration + Retribution Aura do the rest;
• Seal of Wisdom for recover mana and an eye allways on KTM for monitoring the threat, if someone of dps grow up on aggro i cast another Consecration and, if need, another Holy Shield (ONLY IF NEED, don't waste your mana);
• No Mana Potions, some Health Potions, 2 Mana Break, never lose aggro, no wipe and gg.

Special Note For Last Boss: I changed for Balnaazar because here is little more hald to hold aggro: he stunn, mc, fear... is a pain:

• Righteous Fury + Sanctuary + Shadow Resistence Aura on me and Salvation allways on each other;
• Seal of The Crusader + Holy Shield + Consecration (before Judgement) + Judgement and Seal of Righteousness for max build threat and hold aggro;
• Is extremely important don't lose aggro in this fight so continue to spam Consecration (and Holy Shiled only if need, keep an eye on KTM);
• At 50% Balnaazar become a demon and he use an aoe stunn, use Cancelaura Macro of Divine Protection for dispell, Mana Potion and continue to spam Consecration, keep up Seal of Righteousness and wait the dps do the rest.

Use all spell allways at max rank. Never never never derank (special thanks to my master and mentor Killerduki).

P.S. I have def cap, so Redoubt never proc on me.

Seal of Wisdom, JoW, Blessing of Wisdom they all generate threat =1/2 of mana gained by you or party members so that's nice.Also yea with seal of wisdom its easy to maxrank everything that mana regen is OP .
