Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

So I have a question: when I have my ice barrier up and there is some form of a dot on me it breaks cannibalize and first aid even though the damage of the dot is being absorbed by my ice barrier. Is this a bug or is this how it originally was in retail?
