Elemental PvP

Hi guys!

I have wondered which spec i should use with my mage for pvp. I see a lot playing elemental and i know the talent tree, but can someone briefly describe the rotation of the ele mage? I know there is no "rotation" but you know, when to fire, when to frost etc, which spells to use.

And also with the deep frost spec, and which spec do you prefer? :)

Thanks

sheep - frostbolt (if melee class) - scorch - blastwave - fireblast - frostnova - frostbolt/scorch - cone of cold. target should be dead by then.

elemental mages find themselves in melee range 90% of the time.

Here's what i prefer, i know you already said that you had the spec, but for the rotation to work correctly i would use this: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#oZxxMzfcubVAM0obt

Here's the rotation i use against melees: "sheep - frostbolt - scorch - scorch - fireblast - frost nova - Frostbolt - cone of cold - blast wave " If they're not dead yet then cold snap and repeat.

Here's the rotation i use against casters: "sheep - pyroblast - scorch - (Counterspell here only if the caster is using a healing ability) - scorch - fireblast - frost nova - frostbolt - cone of cold - blast wave" If they're not dead yet Cold snap and use, "frost nova - Frostbolt - cone of cold".

Hope this helps

I ran 30/21 frost/arcane. Frost eats Melee for breakfast and if you're defending the flag - ice block -> wait X seconds as they try and cap -> break IB -> arcane explostion to interrupt -> cold snap -> ice block -> wait as they try and cap again -> break IB -> arcane explostion will buy your team valuable time to get to the node to help defend.

ahaha imp Fball and imp scorch? c'mon man, you won't have time in pvp to stack scorches on someone then Fball them for max damage.

I would stick to something like http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#oZVgMzf0uZV0GhRbt

Last 3(4) points if really yours to play around with, it really is based around your gear at that point. you can choose between 3/3 EP, if you're feeling more fire dmg you could get 2/5 Fire power (or 3/5 if you take a point out of permafrost).

Melee fights will be really easy for you as ele, but never open on a rogue with Fbolt once he's been sheep. Full rank Fireball then R1 Fbolt him (the DoT will counter his vanish if he chooses to use it, Fbolt will get him to use a CD but now he has an opener on you). Don't overlap your CoC and Blastwave debuff, CoC will overwrite your Fbolt slow debuff so you kinda wanna time it around when that's going to drop (i believe CoC slow is stronger). you should try and nova when you can Fblast or Blastwave since you'll have over 60% chance to get an ignite proc. So Nova into 2x scorches or 1x scorch and blast wave, these type of decisions will be made based on your play style. TL;DR nova then fire spells for ignite proc, don't waste a frost spell, you don't get any benefit from it (obv if you were frost spec this wouldn't be the case, but many mages don't know how to play anything besides boring frost.)
