Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hey guys, frequent reader, first time poster. I know things are still being tweaked and bugs patched every day, but to all the mages who've made it to level 40+, have you tried your hand at AOE grinding for leveling? If so, how is it on Nostalrius?

In Vanilla retail this video was my bible for leveling between 40-60. Is this a possibility on Nost?

I even tried when it's night for NA and early morning for Europe and it was still non optimal
edit: actually the higher level you are, the best it is, but expect a lot of fighting for mobs and ganking

I AoE leveled the second week of Nost from 16 to 60 with Roughly 7 days played, it's fine if you know where to go. I leveled a rogue this week and noticed that most places are really quite atm, it should be a decent time to level a mage that way.

It's possible but you won't be getting more than 6-8 mobs a pull. Mob leashes on this server are extremely short, if you played on Emerald Dream they are much shorter than that so many pulls I did on ED are not possible here. Furthermore, you won't be able to do any of the popular AoE locations that you see in those videos because there's just so many people on this server.

What I've been doing is trying to find about 3 pulls of 6+ mobs each in level appropriate areas that are not very camped. It takes about 3 hours a level in the mid-high 40's to get a level like this. Not as fast as big pulls, but still gets the job done, and I usually just wait for rested exp so it goes pretty fast anyways.

Aoe farming is only good if you really know how to farm it without wasting mana, i just frost mages with ice barrier and a mount. best way to pull mobs and you have a shield where you dont lose mana, thats my opinion tho

Hijacking this - Been thinking about AE leveling at some point - some questions regarding this:

1. Does it make sense before you get CoC?

The Mage guide that Lazermon posted is very good I think, but are there any old guides / posts that look specifically at AE leveling for Mages?

Also about to level a mage with AoE grinding, and was wondering if it's worth it to go into the Arcane tree for Arcane Concentration? It's a huge, HUGE quality of life talent that pretty much gives you infinite mana while AoE grinding, because it keeps proccing over and over and you get free Blizzards.

On other private servers I played, Arcane Concentration would always proc like crazy off of Blizzard, does it proc off of individual Blizzard ticks on nost as well?
