8 Spell Power or 20 Fire Res Libram for BWL?

Good afternoon,

I am currently deciding which libram to put on my t2 pants and my helm. I understand the the favor is 8sp as everyone is thriving to see huge numbers pop up on the screen. Possibly that is the optimal buff for a damage class.

However, I have been considering going with 20 Fire res on helm and pants. What do you guys think about the increase of potential survivability and healers would theoretically need to dump less mana on healing me.

Unfortunately I have limited experience in BWL and would like to get some info from one of you stat crunchers on which fights you need FR and how much is enough for a mage at the moment i have about 3.4k life unbuffed.

My gut tells me the increase to survivability is the way to go as everyone is gonna have to learn the fights and they will be mana intensive for healers.

So in the end to re-sum up my question its 40fr vs 16sp.

thank you for your time.

cheers

DPS doesn't need Fire Resistance

Vael is like the only fight where you will want fire resist but even then I'd rather have the 16 spell dmg. I mean you got a lot of hp unbuffed, most pve mages have around ~2000 hp are you wearing like stam gear? Anyway I think if you use greater fire protection potions and fire ward you will be fine with the fire resist you get from raid buffs.

16 SP.
DPS don't need fire resistance in BWL.
Your raid is able to dodge all fire abilites in BWL - and kick/silence flamewakers in suppression room.
Your healers should be able to take care if you on Vael.
Have your raid work on positioning instead of trying to cover it with a bandaid. GL!

Resistance is a terrible way of upping your survivability unless youre a tank, mostly because their resistance gear is actually good. Stick with your sp enchants and pop a titans instead.

Titans for a mage in BWL? Seriously?

@OP: pretty much the only fights you'll take fire damage are Vael (where healers have infinite mana) and Firemaw (where it's up to you to go LOS at the right moment). Oh, and the warlocks if you for some reason like standing in rain of fire. Just get SP and kill stuff faster.

Made my day, thanks.

@OP : There are more heavy and fire based (deadly) raid dmg spells/situations you can't avoid/LoS than people are telling you.

Ideally you put spellpower on your current BiS helm + pants combo and put 20 FR on a 2nd BiS/equivalent helm or pants.
That way, you can switch a pure dmg item with a decent dmg + FR item in the same slot for those situations.

@ All the others : Good luck on death talon packs.
