Going full frost while leveling?

Going full frost while leveling?

by biffsteken » Tue Mar 17, 2015 12:17 am

Hey, I'm lvl 40 now as my mage and I'm thinking of putting every talent point in the frost tree to maximize my output damage to level 60.

Is this something I should ABSOLUTELY not do, or this is actually viable?
Been thinking about it now as I just got to 40.

I say, for leveling there is no reason to go much beyond this in frost:

as there are too many people to effectively AoE anywhere. If you /really/ want to Frost TO ELEVEN, I guess you could fill out Permafrost and Winter's Chill, but as far as I'm informed, you are much better off smacking some points into Arcane... even though damage is rather low over there. Come to think of it, all I've ever heard was at 40 you should start using the talents you will be using at 60, and since I've never leveled a vanilla mage to 60, I'm wholly unqualified to give a proper answer! Why am I still typing!

Either way, there should be plenty of time to learn at 60, so level with what you want, I say!

This is your optimal deep-frost raiding spec and overall solid for everything you do, AoE farming, BGs etc. I'm using it also while leveling I got 31 points with 3/5 winters chill and then went arcane for the rest, at 59 and 60 I maxed my winters chill.

If you want a more "fun-spec" and respec at 60 you can play this one, it's focused on killing single target mobs very quickly without them reaching you.

Or you can use this one and go full AoE, pull everything and blizzard it down, I do not suggest it if you are not an experienced mage tho.

Level as fire, and stay as fire for pre-MC raids.

Re spec to frost when you start going into MC

And kite warriors and AoE farm. Frost is the best.
