Stutter lag/FPS Drop when mousing over NPC/Mobs

by Poopfeast » Fri Sep 04, 2015 9:16 am

Hi guys,

Yesterday I started having a weird problem relating to targeting/mousing over NPCs/mobs. It also happens when mousing over other players, but not in the same degree.

Every time I target or mouse over something, I get this quarter of a second lag/stutter. This does not happen if I tab target and keep my right mouse button down. Besides from this, the game always runs smoothly and I never have issues with FPS drops or anything of that kind.

So far I have tried:
Enable/disable all video settings there is
Delete WTF/WDB
Enabling console and adding performance commands as suggested by the guide I found here.

Mouse specific:
Disabled pointer shadow
Disabled "allow themes to change mouse pointers"
Changed USB Port for the mouse (some guy in an old wow-thread claimed it fixed the issue for him, didnt for me)

I have also checked my paging-file, and made sure I have a decent ammount of available ram when the game runs.

As mentioned, the game has run smoothly for aprox a week, and this issue started yesterday. It happens in every zone I am in, be it less populated or highly. On all characters aswell.

Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated!

Kinda forgot about this topic, but for reference if anyone else encounters a similar issue; my memory died on me a few days after posting, got new ones and everything works perfectly.

tldr; faulty ram caused the issue (weirdly enough games like dota 2 ran perfectly until my pc refused to boot)
