IS PALLY BUFF FOR HORDE MULTIBOXING?

by bile » Thu Jan 07, 2016 3:25 pm

I will start off the post by posting the exact words of multiboxing rules for nostalrius as stated by 'Viper.'

Multiboxing refers to playing multiple characters simultaneously. This can either be achieved by using multiple machines to run the Game or by running multiple instances of the Game. The following rules are not meant to be exhaustive, and using multiple characters to level, farm reputation, run dungeons, do raids and/or engage in PVP is considered Multiboxing. Each case of Multiboxing will be judged individually and thoroughly. There are a few specific situations where you may have two characters in-game simultaneously, *only while both characters are in a major city*:

Transferring items between accounts;
Using professions, as long as no farming or material gathering is involved;
Crafting, enchanting, banking and/or for trading purposes that does not include the Auction House.
Portalling a second account only to and from major cities.
Playing simultaneously on both PvP and PvE realms. *Not restricted to major cities*

Now, the topic i want to bring up is having another account with a 60 paladin on it which would be used to be Mind Controlled by a priest, to give your main character (horde player) paladin buffs. This does not go against any of 'multiple characters to level, farm reputation, run dungeons, do raids and/or engage in PVP is considered Multiboxing.' Moreover, this mechanic WAS allowed during Vanilla times on Blizzard servers.

So, can a horde member have a 60 paladin on another account, so that it may be mind controlled to buff his horde character? It could even be in neutral city such as booty bay or such if need be (although that shouldnt matter since alliance and horde cannot open trade screen, group for pvp, dungeons, etc for any of the rules previously stated).

So let me get this straight.. A horde priest, on someone other persons account, mind controls your pally on one of your accounts, to apply the pally buff to your horde character which is on your 2nd account.. In other words you are playing an alliance character on one screen and a horde character on a separate screen, and engaging in pvp combat with both accounts..

Does this really need an answer? For the slow people, HELL YES IT'S MULTIBOXING!

Not to mention, I don't even believe it is possible to use those spells when mind controlling a character.

I remember some discussion about soulstoning yourself and vaguely a GM answer saying its ok if you do it when both of your chars are in a major city. Should be the same if your pala mind control helmets your horde and then buffs it when both are within a major city?

Dont take me for granted on this!

You cant use a player's spells when mind-controlling them. You can only jump them off of cliffs and boats.

Repeating myself: A paladin mindcontrols a horde to make him friendly and then buffs him.

When you MC a player, you do not have access to your own spells. So in your scenario, if the pally had a engineering MC cap, he could MC the horde - but still couldn't buff them. Now if you had a paladin AND a priest to MC one horde, you might be able to buff them? Not sure, never bothered to try.

This is a lot of effort for a short duration buff...

Greetings,

Multiboxing is the act of playing two accounts at once. You answered yourself in your original post. All of the actions you listed must be done in a MAJOR CITY for it not to be considered multi-boxing, including soul-stoning your other characters (which was very recently added to the ToU). The only exception to this is playing on both realms simultaneously. So long story short: yes it is considered multiboxing; no you may not do this.
