I don't see anything inherently bad with fixing blizzlike bugs, like nost have done before btw.
Some vanilla bugs are kept in as "features", like terrain not giving line of sight, or battle shout creating threat, others are labeled bugs and removed, or left in as they are but made bannable to take use of. Why? How does Nostalrius make the distinction between a "feature" and a "bug" when it was all a part of vanilla. How can players make that distinction? The two "features" I mentioned were fixed in the same TBC patch as the felwood plants.
I'm sure people who didn't play vanilla don't particularly care about this, but for anyone that did and raided as well, banning people over whipper roots is mind boggling, especially when 2 out of the 3 are players without any previous in-game offenses(Nano says they all had multiple offenses on their accounts in
this post, which is top kek tbh). Guild or pug-raids gathering the felwood plants by simultaneously/multi-looting them were extremely commonplace during vanilla and there's a buttload of guides as well as addons created solely for this purpose.
Even if the plants weren't originally intended to work like this in vanilla, it's reasonable to say blizzard left it in and never banned anyone for it because dissuading people from grouping in an MMO is stupid as shit. The game revolves around teamwork.
