Require info about LAN / multiple connections

by mongrain » Wed Apr 15, 2015 1:50 pm

Hello.

First off thank you for the server it's an incredible experience. I have a few friends who joined me on the server, one of which who shares the same internet connection as me. I also often throw LAN parties where we have more than 4 clients opened and running at my house. Should I be worried about getting banned? What are the guidelines or rules around that?

Odds are extremely high you'll be banned as a multiboxer, happens all the time when people LAN party or okay with a RL friend.

Could I have confirmation from a dev or admin and perharps solutions to avoid that? I'm level 35 and my friend who has been on my internet connection is 23.. we have not had issues so far and don't want to get banned..

I found my answer in the server's FAQ. I will post it down here in case anyone is wondering but you may also delete the thread if you find it more convinient. Thank you!

"How about multi-boxing and bots ?
You're not allowed to use any form of program to control multiple characters at once. You are, however, allowed to be logged on, say, two characters. The only thing we allow multiple characters for, is professions and banking, this means you cannot /follow level 2 characters at once. This will result in a ban of one of the two, and if repeated, both. It is also not a problem if you are, for instance, three family members in the same house, playing at the same time. Each multi-box case will be judged individually, so don't worry if you're not doing anything wrong.

What you can't do, is PvP with multiple characters, Dungeon with multiple characters, Raid with multiple characters, etc.

If you are two people playing two characters - no problem. If you are 5 people playing 5 characters - no problem."
