Program kicks me back to desktop

When I start up the program it starts the launch sequence and takes me to a black screen. After that it just sends me back to my desktop page where i see all my icons and can do stuff and says WoW is still open. I followed all the instructions on the configuration tutorial page and don't know what I did wrong. Anyone got an idea how to fix this?

Sounds like a video card issue. Go to the config.wtf file and try manually changing resolution to different values, see if something else would work.

Sounds like it could be a number of things. Are you sure WoW is still running in the background when it takes you to your desktop and isn't crashing? I'm assuming you can't alt+tab back into the WoW window?

You may want to check out this thread because it sounds like the same problem you're describing. I believe they made a change to one of the files (Config.wtf) in the WoW installation folder and it fixed it or changed some of the compatibility/administrator settings to get it to work correctly. Otherwise, another good place to check would be to ensure your video card drivers are all updated.

Adding to what AverageJoe said, try adding:

Code: Select all

SETgxWindow "1"

to the end of your config.WTF file.

This will set the game into Windowed Mode so it will not minimize. If that's the issue.

So I tried to edit the values of the config file and cannot save the changes because I do not have authority, the other thread is also not very clear on what they do to fix it.

Drag the file to your desktop, edit it and then drag it back into its appropriate folder.

I don't think the compatibility changes affected it at all because the screenshot shows that nothing was actually modified.

Ok added the windowed option and changed my resolution to 1920x1080 then ran as administrator. Game launched perfectly, now its telling me my info is incorrect. Just gonna go check another thread for that though. Also I noticed you have to run it as Administrator otherwise it will still minimize. Problem solved.
