Character nickname.

Hello, and thanks for your time!
Sorry for starting from my story, but I have come here to play from another vanilla project as all of my guild mates came to play here as soon as this project had started. We had a good core team that known each other very well, and I really want to play with this nickname again!
I'm not sure if this guy has taken this nickname on purpose or he decided to take this nickname after watching one of my videos (also on 1.12.1), or he moved here from the server he used to play along with me and saw my nickname there, and I'm not saying he did it just to make this nickname busy for some reason, but....
It may sound a bit selfish, and I know that there are no such privileges for players, but I want to try at least.
Can I ask to check if the character with the nickname I played on previous server is playing there (I mean, I know that this nickname is taken already), at least casually and not just an alt that has never logged in a game, and existing just to keep that nickname busy? If so, can I do something to make this nickname available again?
I know that there are no "private" nicknames and people can choose any they like, my question is if its possible to rename or do something else with the character that is never playing to free the nickname.
Can't really explain why, but its really important for me to play with this nickname, not just for my guildmates and other people I know, but also for making another video, as it has the storyline and I really wish the nickname to be the same.
