Gm's given up on fighting the gold sellers?

by Arise » Sun May 24, 2015 6:21 pm

This gold seller Palishuna has been spamming horde trade channel for at least 8 hours by now. Unchallenged by GM's. I have made a report but no answer.

Have GM's given up the fight or just a collective day off or something?

There are only so many GMs, who have sleep schedules and personal lives (Nost is a volunteer gig for them and not a paid position like with Blizzard), and the gold selling Chinaman is a hydra.

Unfortunately gold sellers will return and return and return again. Like Robotron stated, they are hydras. You cut one of them out and another one comes in. The best you can do is report them and ignore them - that way you don't have to deal with it while knowing you did your part. :)

Previously, tracking bots was very time consuming, and relied on player reports and manual checks. Now we have created the first ever bot detecting system. It detects any bot on the server thanks to an automatic, secure and exclusive algorithm never built before. The system has been recently improved to detect them even faster last week. We've also developed a similar system to deal with gold and account sellers.
...
Since this system now works as planned, we've started focusing on an automatic spam detection algorithm, based on the one we built for bot detection.
I've never seen a bot insult me for stealing his mob.

given up? have you seen this kind of commitement on retail? That's the great thing about knee jerk reactions, you don't need to be responsible for them.

Just /ignore and report them. If your ignore list ever gets full (Not sure how many names it lets you add) just delete some of the old names you know you added weeks/months ago to make room for the new ones.

I've gotten to point where I just open a ticket with the character's name, level, race, class, and a link to a screenshot of them advertising in a chat channel. GMs usually respond within 15 minutes to an hour or so.

Also you can check out the addon SpamThrottle. It has a feature where you can right click the name of a player spamming chat and add them to a personal ban list (of unlimited size) for a configurable duration (which can be infinite.)

Do a forum search for SpamThrottle to find it, I created a thread for it some time ago.

And don't forget to type /st or /spamthrottle after installing to configure it. Any questions on how to use or suggestions, just post in my thread.
