Account HITPOINT has not been banned. If you mistype your password or account name too many times, the account can get suspended for 30-60 minutes to prevent brute force hacking.

Posting in this thread to review later. This is the third or fourth thread I've seen related to the "remember account" feature.

I will try messing around with the "Remember Account Name" checkbox to see what values it stores in the WTF folder and see if I can get it to throw an error at login. If so, I'll add info about it to my sticky.

Well, an interesting development.

I wasn't able to narrow down anything related to the "Remember Account Name" checkbox, though I do see where it saves "SET accountname "account_name_here"" to the config.wtf file in the WTF folder.

Interestingly enough, I tried logging in unsuccessfully on a test account I have and it said the account was closed on only the second login attempt. I didn't get this before; previously I had to login like ten times unsuccessfully before getting the "this account has been closed" message.

So, since one of my test accounts was temporarily banned, I then tried to login with another test account of mine that I know is legit and not banned (I've logged in successfully many times before) and it too said the account was banned despite me not even logging in wrong one time on it. 15 minutes later I was able to login with it no problem.

This reflects what several users on the forum are describing: that they create one account, get "unable to connect" when they try to login several times, then eventually get the "this account has been closed" message indicating a temporary ban, then go to make a second account but when they login with it, it too says the second account is banned. Upon inquiry in the Support forum, GMs say neither of their accounts are banned, yet they cannot login with any of them.

Maybe this means the temporary ban the server has in place for unsuccessful logins is more global than we previously thought. Maybe it's a temporary IP ban instead of a temporary account ban? I'm not sure; this is the first I've come across this. I tried changing my IP to test this theory but haven't had much luck (/release /renew problems). Gonna have to do more research.
