RangedAOE through Gates: Strath UD Magistrate Barthilas Farm

well, most of you probably know you can farm the named boss in strath UD quite easily.
his spawn location does not vary (as it should?), he's always near the entrance and you can pull him with some range aoe like salve or hurricane without having to do any other mobs. so its 1 minute for each kill.
for that, you just dont open the first gate inside strath UD and use such ranged aoe skill through the gate on magistrate. and this is where my question hooks:
is it considered to be bug-using if you're firering a ranged aoe spell through that gate (to pull magistrate)
and is it considered to be bug-using to send pets (warlock/hunter) through such gates as they can just walk through it without the need of opening?

such things seem to be common tactics on this server. i would've thought that such things are forbidden because they shouldnt be possible(?), still they seem to be tollerated. is this the case? are such strats ok or not? just want to clarify.

the problem is that AoE deal damage even if losed or can be casted whilst in LoS, that is something that should be repaired as it is quite game breaking in pvp aswell.

Area of Effect. You can't fix something that isn't broken there.

The most that can be done is having a mob evade AoEs and fix the pathing so the pet is out of range through the gate.

?? did you read it? AoE is not supposed to go through LoS you are not supposed to cast Blizzard like You -> Wall -> Area you would like to AoE, if there's a Wall it should say so if you do it to damage mobs behind corner it's ok until you can see the MIDDLE of your AoE circle. On this server you can do AoE spells from places to places that should not be even possible for example doing Blizzard form inside Drek'thar room without even having the los to do so.

the the bug (i suppose) is that the gates (and maybe all useable doors?) do not block LoS entirely, so a hunter can simply cast salve through it, a druid hurricane, etc, and that NPCs can simply walk through these closed gates. i guess both should not be possible.
tho there were similiar bugs at vanilla retail too, so this could even be working as intended with a very small chance.

combinating both bugs, this can heavily be exploited, just like the stated magistrate barthilas.

single target spells get LoS blocked, its only about ranged aoe and NPCs.

i can not 100% tell if its a bug or not since i did not make any research, i'm just assuming till now. i would just really like to know if its OK if players exploit gates or if its going to be punished.

since it seems to be a common tactic on nost i assume its OK, still i hope a GM can clarify this.

I did red it it. There shouldn't be a LoS on the spell at all. LoS only applies to targets -- which all AoEs don't require. The only thing that blocks AoEs is objects and terrain when you're casting it.

Find a citation where AoEs were "fixed" so LoS was added onto the spells and I'll be totally in agreement with you, but in the meantime this can only be fixed via scripting the mob to not aggro upon the spells, pet damage, etc.

I'd be shocked if Nostalrius makes some LoS out of AoEs with targets or somehow adds a check for obstructed views of the casters. That would be a "goodbye Nost" to most of the casters.
