Multiboxing question

by vinceyoung » Sat Oct 24, 2015 10:07 pm

Sorry I couldn't find any information regarding this. Is it against the rules to have a 2nd account for the purpose of inviting to party to /camp out of an instance (ie DM E farming with a 2nd account to party with)? I know a lot of people already do this but as with the silithus mining situation I want to be sure this is not a bannable offence.

Yeah that would be bannable. Can't assist yourself in any way farming or leveling.

All you need to do to accomplish the same thing is to use /script ResetInstances(); followed by /camp.
It does the exact same thing and has been confirmed by a GM to be allowable.
No multiboxing required.

Oh wow that's a really good tip. I was like bothering people in my guild to let me invite them so I could camp out.

What about LEVELING normally, while you have an account in ORg, spamming trade chat to sell things, AND occasionally going to the AH, BUT you arent moving on your other account at all.

The main thing with multiboxing is the accounts can't interact with each other to gain an advantage. So yours wouldn't not be bannable.

As for the OP I figured that wouldn't be bannable either since it isn't really providing an advantage, and it isn't like his alt is in the instance with him. That seems more a grey area, would like a GM's opinion on that, cause I've personally done it before.

Not to derail this thread but I have another question regarding DM East farming. So as a mage you can blink through the door that leads to the final boss, sometimes a dusty tome spawns near the boss. Would it be bannable to use trick to try and get DM books? I'm not really sure if blinking through the door is a blizzlike feature so I have no idea if it is intended or a bug.

Yes, very much bannable. It is exploiting a bug in game, and would likely be considered a major bug, leading to a permanent ban without warning.

Careful with that, be sure to have a look at the updated TOU. You are not allowed to use the AH while multiboxing. https://en.nostalrius.org/terms-of-use There is a little bit of a grey area on what 'trading' in the statement includes (whether it means you can advertise and do direct trades with players) without using the AH.

Regarding the OP's question, players have been warned by GMs that it is in fact a violation of the TOU to multibox a second character for the purpose of resetting DM by inviting to a group and /camp.
