World drop loot rates

by Tuthur » Tue Mar 10, 2015 2:58 pm

The BoE gear you get from killing random monsters (be it green, blue or purple) seem to drop to often, this isn't the first time this has been reported I do not quite understand why the feedback is ignored but a single toon dropping more than 3 epics before you hit 60 isn't a good thing for the server's economy, nor its blizzlike reputation.

Now I know some of you might not have had such luck but I think everyone can admit there is a problem with the drop rates set too high. While this wasn't a big issue during the levelling phase, now that people are grinding level 60 mobs we might have ourselves an avalanche of Teebus coming soon.

I hope this feedback won't get swept under the rug as well.

I'm just throwing this out there, none of the 30 or so people I know have seen a single purple. I think most people have an average of 1 blue by the time they're 30-40, and greens are uncommon.

The rate really doesn't seem to be increased to me, nor anyone I've played with. Only by a few lucky people claiming 1 rare per level on here seem to have a problem with this. I say you should probably just accept the horseshoe in your ass and enjoy your gold, because it's not a server issue.

Even just playing the first 10 levels I have felt that the loot is a bit too generous perhaps.

I also noticed people linking items they looted in Dun Morough that were many levels beyond what should drop, lvl 40 odd if I remember correctly.

Mind you it has been years since I played the game so perhaps the drop rate is as it should be.

Droprate is too high indeed. Back when i played from 1-60 the only world drop I had was an epic (the green tower, i remember it)
Now here i'm 40 and I already got like 5 blues with tons of greens.

Level 24 here..

Greens: 25-30 Total (seems a tad high)
Blues: 1 (About right)
Purples: 0 (Obviously)

Green drop-rates seem a tad high, but nothing out of the ordinary.

From lvl 22, I had no blues, no purples. The amount of green wasn't high (~15 ish). I can't say if ~15 green at lvl 22 is normal or not. Lvl 22 is too low to make any conclusion though.

*sigh*

I thought people would have figured it out by now, but apparently there is still some confusion.

Certain mobs' loot tables are scripted erroneously, causing them to drop a disproportionately high amount of green, blue and epic items (also other items, such as pots). Moreover, these same mobs also drop items outside their supposed item range.

What occurs in practice is the following:

Players kill mobs normally, for quests. Some of these mobs include those with wrong loot tables. People end up getting slightly more items and it adds up over time so they report drop rates being off. The real problem is not drop rates in general, but the specific drop rates of a number of mobs.

The greater problem is that a large number of players (still a minority compared to the entire population) have realized what I'm just telling you and are intentionally farming said mobs to get more items.

Thank you for this clarification.

So we need people to report suspect mobs and a dev can then check if the loot table looks right or not.
