Latency spikes

by Damodan » Sat Feb 06, 2016 1:50 am

Gday all,

I have checked through stickied threads looking for any information on this but i cannot find anything, my apologies in advance if i am useless and have missed it. About 15 hours ago i began spiking my latency in game. I play on the PVE server. My in game ping says around 800-1.5k at any given time. sometimes my spells are instant (or as instant as an Australian can get at around 300ms) and other times they take the time of a global cool down or worse. There appears to be no rhyme or reason to this, my speed test has come back normal. I can surf the web, stream and listen to music all normally i just seem to be getting high latency in game.

I have done the usual restart modem, restart computer etc. I also play on a Macbook pro.

If any one could please give me some advice on how i might be able to solve this issue that would be great.

Same with me since yesterday evening average ping of 2kms or higher runs up to 9k and has hit 20k+.
Multiple restarts, router restarts, pc restarts. Stopped playing last night tried again today. same issue lucky to get a ping of 800ms if i'm in a deserted part of the world.
Net on my end seems fine can download at 1mbps can play other games fine. Just seems to be NOS few others in my guild same issue.

Ditto, been fine the last week (300-400 ping) but since last night my ping is a constant 1k+. Brisbane, Australia on TPG. PvP server.
Net is working perfect just Nostalrius being a pain

It is most likely your ISP routing to Europe, try contact your ISP or use a VPN gaming tunnel like wtfast.com and try that out see if it helps.

I had issues with SE Asia to EU official servers on random occasions, it is the routing to EU which takes some retarded way through US sometimes. Can be everything from broken undersea cables to unicorns.

Run a traceroute to the nostalrius server and see where it spikes.
And send that to your ISP

I on the TPG network too. I use to get 390-400 range but now its like 1000+ ms. Which is unplayable :( defiantly on Nostalrius end.

Using a VPN fixed the issue for me temporarily, although people are reporting on whirlpool that the issue has since been fixed.
