Clarification on Acceptable Behavior

by Launchd » Sat Feb 13, 2016 1:49 am

I'm just posting here to get some clarification on acceptable behavior. This may come off as a rant, but I assure you, it is not.. I just want to be sure this is considered acceptable..

I recently reached level 60 on my rogue (new to this server < a month) and decided to check out Un'Goro Crater's Devilsaur farm. To my surprise (/sarcasm), people are clearly farming the spawns with timers. Awesome. I am no stranger to farming mobs on timers, I spent a majority of my time in this game on the roster of some of the best guilds in the world. So, fairly quickly (20mins) I figured out the timers/pops/loop. First one I settle on I tag/kill/skin. Easy enough, anyone can farm on timers.. What happens next becomes an issue in my mind.. One of the five players roaming together berates me with cursing, proceeds to tell me that what happened will not happen again, logs off his character right after saying these things and a few minutes later I'm getting ganked by an Alliance rogue. This was clearly this same player logged onto an opposite faction account, using this to their advantage to maintain farm on these mobs. I proceeded to get ganked by this player over and over at each spawn point as the other four stood by and watched - each time I died the alliance member would mount up and stand next to this group of four as they killed the Devilsaur that spawned.

A few questions come to mind...

Do you allow for multiple accounts (cross-faction) per player once it is determined they are using them to harass other players or gain an unfair advantage?

Do you monitor for/allow account sharing?

Is what I described above not considered a form of griefing?

I'm okay with not farming Devilsaur and skipping out on these pieces, not the end of the world.. but if this kind of stuff happens on this server and is considered fair, acceptable behavior.. It seems wise to discontinue playing here.

If he's multiboxing to do this, then it's bannable, but I believe if both of his characters were on the same account/not logged on simultaneously, then it's allowed. The Un'Goro mafia is not easy to deal with.

It wasn't even that guild! Every one of the five players I encountered belong to different guilds.. I also did not realize you could make both an Alliance and Horde faction character on one account..

I suppose it makes it a little less malicious, but the griefing intent is still there.. Seems ridiculous that they are allowed to lock down a set of mobs by utilizing this type of method.. It is, without a doubt, an unfair advantage.

It is, without a doubt, an unfair advantage.

How is it an unfair advantage? You can do the same thing. Just level up a 60 rogue on the opposite faction and gank away.
As long as no player is playing two accounts at the same time it's all fine and dandy on this pvp realm.

If you need an explanation as to why - you probably shouldn't of even responded to this thread. How is this not an unfair advantage? Explain. They have the market cornered. It would take a group of people doing the exact same thing to stop them. There was a reason Blizzard did not allow players to have cross-faction characters on one account. There was also a reason Blizzard would warn, and then ban without question when it came to this type of thing.

Example of Intentional Cross-Faction Griefing:

When Lord Kazzak was being farmed by our guild (horde) way back when, we had a bunch of our players create level one (alliance) characters on secondary accounts. We summoned 20+ level one characters to Lord Kazzak and logged them. When the only other (alliance) guild on the server ready to farm him attempted to do it, we would log into them and time deaths/graveyard runs making it impossible for them to kill him. We all received suspensions on both our main accounts and secondary accounts.

The reason? Intentional cross-faction griefing preventing other players of having a fair advantage at content.

Maybe I should have wrote "It is not an unfair advantage and here is why":

You can do the same thing. Just level up a 60 rogue on the opposite faction and gank away.
As long as no player is playing two accounts at the same time it's all fine and dandy on this pvp realm.

I did that now. That's why, what I wrote, again.

It would take a group of people doing the exact same thing to stop them.

Exactly. Start your own group and do the same thing. Play world pvp and fight over resources. Why else are we playing on a pvp server?

In the end it is in fact an unfair advantage in a way, it's and advantage to them and unfair to you, but it's not against any rules. Heck anytime I get ganked in the world by 2-3 players it's an unfair advantage, but that's part of the game.

As long as anyone is not playing more than one account at the same time, botting, hacking or exploiting bugs it is not an unfair advatage.

It's not world PvP - they could care less about the PvP factor. It is intentional cross-faction griefing. Just because you can "do the exact same thing" does not deem it fair, advantageous or the right thing to do.

You are farming stuff in world. A other player don't like it. Other play logs opposite faction character and ganks you over and over in world pvp to make you not be able to do what ever.

This is allowed.

Bring your own group and fight back.
