Connection issues on a mac.

My cousin and I are trying to play this together from the same location, using the same router.

He is using windows (and was able to install/login without a hitch), I'm on mac i7 (yosemite). I have tried a few of the native mac WoW apps that were linked to and creating a wineskin with the nostalrius installer (using wine 1.7.39--and tried 1.7.8 like suggested in another post...) and keep having the same issue many people have where the connection hangs.

I have ensured that my realmlist is set to login.nostalrius.org several times. Still have the connection hanging at "Success!" or, get a disconnect, etc.

I have set-up port triggering for the mentioned required ports...

He is able to log into my account on his pc.

Any ideas? Please. We'd really like to play.

I haven't noticed anything inherently different in connection problems with mac. They all seem to be the same. I have 2 wineskin versions and 3 native mac versions on 3 different mac computers.

I've noticed application problems that are different, but they have nothing to do with connection. Therefore, I would just run down the list of connection problems that are noted in the , "read before you post..." thread.

Ah, sorry, I should have been more specific. I am well acquainted with your thread for the connection faq stuff. I have tried for 5.5 hr to get it to work to no avail...


Using http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ with login.nostalrius.org it tells me that the server is down.

Just wanted to note that I was able to log in to a different vanilla 1.12.1 pServer (feenix)--I think my issue is server side? Maybe IP block since I can log onto my account on a different computer?


Getting the same problem as this fellow:

Sometimes it goes into the character sellection, and hangs on "Logging in to game server," then times out and goes back to realm selection, I choose Nostalrius Begins and the loop continues...

The login server has a firewall that cannot be bypassed unless it is the client logging in. Can you trace route to see if you get to the firewall? Below is my ping plotter sample set of tracing the route to login.nostalrius.org and I can log in fine on the wow client.

Did a quick search of that error number. all macs...all on vanilla servers. this is the only solution i saw that had a positive response, why it works? I don't know. Make sure to go to the downloaded location on your hard drive:

1. Open up your World of Warcraft folder where the installation is placed.
2. Right click on World of Warcraft.app and chose Show packet contents
3. Click Contents then Resources (Contents/Resources)
4. Delete the Error Reporter

I no longer get the error popping up but am still not able to log in. The connection is hanging at "Logging in to game server" then pops back to realm selection.
It says "Nostalrius Begins" under "Terms of Use" on the splash screen.

Wanted to add that I can see (1) beside Nostalrius Begins, even though I haven't played on a character on the mac yet.

For what it's worth, I play on a mac.

Sometimes I get disconnected when trying to log in, but persisting for a while has so far worked.
