Screenshots not showing up

by Lipstickx » Sun Apr 19, 2015 4:37 pm

When I take a screenshot it says that one is captured, but when I go to the screenshots folder there is nothing there except the tga to jpg converter. Sometimes the converter says there are files to be converted, so I convert them. Afterwards there are no files in the screenshot folder and I cannot find them on my PC. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it?

May be you use fake converter. It deletes files instead of convert in to jpg? Where did you get it?

I have the same problem. The converter is the only file in the screenshots folder. It's called "TGAtoJPG.exe" and it came with the client download. (The installer one).

Your screenshots may be here:
Code: Select all
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft Classic\Screenshots

You could also try searching your computer for "WoWScrnShot"

Please do not use suspicious .exe files like that or at least scan them with an anti-virus program and Malwarebytes or Spybot or similar. Especially if they were bundled with the client. Legitimate image converter programs have an actual name, instead of just "TGAtoJPG.exe".

That's an odd thing to see because that program came with the client downloaded from MEGA.

The program is safe and is no longer needed. I have seen it in WoW installations for years. WoW used to save screenshots as TGA files.

Virustotal.com is another good site to check suspected malware samples as it will test it across just about every Anti-Virus signature database.

I'm glad if I'm wrong and it's a completely safe program. It just wouldn't be the first time someone bundles up a sneaky malware hidden as a useful utility.
