Pavel, you have to understand that this server has 6-7k players on at the same time, throughout much of the day. If I remember correctly they said the server has something like 100K+ accounts? It might have even been more, I forget the exact figure.

Retail wow servers never hit that... not even close. Partially because you could pick from all the different realms, and partly because they capped them.

So it does make sense that it's actually harder to get certain names on this server.

The staff doesn't free up or delete names associates with accounts from what I remember. A lot of people will create level 1 alts with popular names just to hang onto until they decide to roll the character at a later date. That or sell/trade the account which is against the Terms of Use.

I think they should change their policy. In a situation like this characters who have never been logged into, are banned, been inactive for a long time AND aren't a high level, or are under a certain total play time/level (example: below level 5, only has 3 items, only played for 24 minutes), should be deleted or at the very least have their names changed.

I don't think you realize the frustration of spending hours picking a name for your character because damn near everything common and even uncommon is taken/saved.

In retail it was also a lot less common for people to save a bunch of names as well.

A final note, it is actually very Blizz-like to give the names of these level 1 bastard children to active players seeking to use them. I really can't see any reason why Nostalrius would not be able to do the same.
