You and your wife can indeed play at the same time. The key point is if the characters are played by one or by two persons.

It is therefore also highly recommended that you do never use /follow, since this can trigger (false) multibox reports. If one of you have to go AFK, then just wait for eachother - dont do /follow how tempting or practical it might be.
