Lol Dr. Doom you didnt need to do all that. Everyone is having the same issue its not on your end. Just be patient it probably wont be up until tomorrow. The server is free so its hard to complain.

I agree with you Dr. Doom.

The problem apeared after I arrived in our vacation flat. When I connect with the internet connection there I have the described problem (can connect to pvp, but can't to the pve server). When I use a Wireless Internet USB stick it works normally (I can connect to the pve and pvp server), unfortunately the performance is very bad, so I must find a solution to play, using the local internet.

I have begun working on port configuration both in Windows Firewall and in my router. I had to dig around websites about my ISP till I finally found the brutal password they used for the latter. I opened TCP ports in both router and firewall, 3724, and 8000-8100. Saved settings in both, and now when I start the client, I get "connecting"... 15 seconds later "Disconnected from server" that other users seem to be having now.

Maybe check your ports and tell me how it goes for you? I read about it here:

Update:

After getting past the Connected-Disconnected from server error. I log in to my account to find... the same problem. Can't enter PvP server, but can enter PvE one.

It's not related to ports either....

I'm running out of ideas here, this is the troubleshooting guide that Nostalrius provides:

General Troubleshooting

IP addresses, ports, tracerts, and pathpings. (Ports opened in router, No change. Tracerts and Pathpings posted here)
Configuring the "realmlist.wtf" file. (Configured several times, sometimes changing even the realm name to the specific "Nostalrius Begins PvP". No change.)
Disabling all addons. (Had no add-ons in my previous client. Fresh installation has no add-ons, no change.).
Deleting the "WDB" folder. (Deleted, no change).
Deleting the "WTF" folder. (Deleted, no change).
Deleting the "WDB" and "WTF" folders located in the AppData directory. (No guide in their thread about this).
Uninstalling and reinstalling WoW. (Done, no change)
Moving the "World of Warcraft Classic" folder out of the Program Files directory. (Installer puts the folder as C:\World of Warcraft Classic, it's never been in the Program Files directory. Invalid).
Running "WoW.exe" as an administrator. (Done, no change).
Updating your graphics card drivers. (No guide in the thread about this).

If you don't mind me asking, where did you travel to? Where is your new IP?

I am currently in South America - Colombia - Bogotá. Might seem far, but my latency on the PvE server is actually around 170ms, better than what I get where I usually play.

Where are you located right now? Just to know if geographic variables might factor in when it comes to the question of accessing X or Y server.

-------

Also for someone in the staff, can I please get an answer to the question regarding server IP differences between "Nostalrius Begins PvE" and "Nostalrius Begins PvP" ? (Are they located in different places with different access configurations maybe)

If someone could go through the pastebins of my tracerts and pathpings i't'd be lovely as well.

search your whole computer for
Code: Select all
virtualstore
- delete everything WoW related you find there (might want to save the screenshots / WTF folder)
- move your game folder to C://users/public
- then repeat deleting unnecessary files (WDB) and rename your WTF folder to WTF_OLD (to later on be able to easily retrieve your keybind / interface settings)

then repeat these steps:
edit your realmlist.wtf to
Code: Select all
set realmlist login.nostalrius.org
set realmName "Nostalrius Begins PvP"

also edit the config.wtf part to
Code: Select all
SET realmName "Nostalrius Begins PvP"

for reference here's my whole WTF > config.wtf folder content

there's no way this has any influence on your connection to the server

Try connecting through a vpn.. that could shine a light on this. There are plenty of free ones around the web.

his issues started yesterday morning, the chain crashes were in the evening, so most likely not related

No actually I'm 200 km from my home away, still in Germany. So it shouldn't be a geographical issue
