After clearing MC this weekend, we intentionally left Majordomo alone until after the patch. So with only a few hours left on our timer, and despite the sweet, sweet server lag, tonight we finished where we left off. Grats, Blizzard, for not porking the servers for 2+ days this time."

the patch mentioned = 1.4 in the first post of the link you provided.

the next link is may of 2005.

You are aware that the thread talking about Majordomo was on the 20th of April right? Do you think that patch 1.4 (on May 5) hit them two weeks early or some shit?

World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.4
Players who defeat the Majordomo Executus encounter will now be rewarded with new epic items. This reward will only be granted the first time the encounter is defeated during the 6 day lifespan of a Molten Core instance.

So there was items in the chest before 1.4 and they added others in 1.4, otherwise we should read :
will now be rewarded with epic items.

Right ?

Still on World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.4
The loot tables for some of the Molten Core bosses have been improved so they drop an additional epic item per kill.

So that's not a bug. On the other hand if you had 2 loots on other bosses : this is the bug !

Let us go by as much of the old info as possible. I will be referring to multiple items ITEM ID (For example: Thunderfury has an item ID of 19019.

The theory that I am following with this research is that Blizzard, when adding new items, did not fill in old ID slots, but instead added new ones. I would love it if people could prove this theory wrong, by for example linking any item with a low item ID that can be proven was added later than it should be.

We know from the world first ragnaros kill video that one of the four dropped items were Malistar's Defender (Note that I am using wowhead not to compare stats because that is irrelevant right now, I am strictly going by ID numbers.)
This item uses the wow item ID 17106. That means that items up to atleast ID 17106 were available in the game at the point of Ragnaros' first demise.

Now I'm trying to find a good breakpoint for where items that definitely shouldn't be in the game (BWL items for example) were added. Sifting through some MC loot with item ID around 18000 or so, I decided to try to start at 19000.

Nefarian's Head has an item ID of 19002. Every BWL item drop, except for tier 2 (that early on dropped in MC), has item ID's around 19300 or above. However! Items with an ID of above 19002 was added in 1.5 (Example: Cauterizing Band). 1.5 was released a month or so before 1.6, so they most likely added the Nef's head and the BWL items to the game early, and then just didn't use them.

Dire maul, added in 1.3 (yes people that is pre-1.4), has all it's item IDs around 18300s. This means that prior to Dire maul (Unless the items in fact were just added but unused by blizzard), there were multiple items not yet in Molten Core.

So what we're aiming for is to look for items that have around item ID 17106. Because that item was on the drop table of the first Ragnaros kill.

Ignoring the first 9 bosses and only looking at Ragnaros:

Cloak of the Shrouded Mists (17102)
Dragon's Blood Cape (17107)
Spinal Reaper (17104)
Bonereaver's Edge (17076) DROPPED IN THE WORLD FIRST RAGNAROS KILL
Malistar's Defender (17106) DROPPED IN THE WORLD FIRST RAGNAROS KILL
Band of Accuria (17063)

Eye of Sulfuras (17204 - the hammer has an ID of 17182)

To further strengthen this, Vis'kag and Deathbringer from Onyxia have the item IDs 17074 and 17068 respectively, well within this item ID range. They are also available on Alakhazam, and apparently you can query them in-game right now on Nostalrius.
Eshkandar's set is also a pre-1.4 set, with an item ID around DM's items. With the little research i did into 18000+ items, this set was added to the kazzak/ony/rag/azuregos loot table.

These items all have lower item IDs than Dire Maul's items. Dire maul's items were all added in 1.3. So these items should exist. If anyone can contradict my statement, please do so, I am trying to straighten this out.

I can not confirm if any items from Majordomo should drop. The EJ post where they deliberately "wait until last" to kill Domo (after the patch, 1.4 was dropped on April 20th NOT may the 5th). They got the Eye of Divinity and two other items, and also linked the chest as a screenshot (as if it was a new feature(!!!!!!!)). This may imply that prior to 1.4, Majordomo straight up didn't give any loot. He might just aswell have been a pre-ragnaros fight. He did respawn, and if you failed on Ragnaros and he despawned, you had to kill Domo again to re-initiate the event.

I strongly recommend researching into using item IDs to confirm whether or not the items should exist. As far as i can tell, going by early 18000s will return you items from DM and 1.3. Later 18000s is 1.4 and 1.5+ uses 19000+ id's. For the loot between Rag and Onyxia, this will add several items.
