Why do you have a car that can go 200 mph if your laws restrict the speed to 120 mph. Why not remove the possibility of abuse in the first place and be done with it.

Stabbys case is a bit different as it was only concerning BRD vault which was not banable on other private projects or in retail as far as I know. Nothing as game breaking as acquiring dozens of Alcors Sunrazors.

Its basically like punishing a person that was speeding and a person that was speeding drunk and killing five people with same punishment.

You are correct, you were able to do coffers on retail until Cata iirc and my case along with a few other people I know's is very similar to stabby's as well.

Here's the problem. That was then, this is now. You knew you were breaking the rules. This is their private server, not retail, not Feenix, not Kronos. This is Nostalrius. It's very clear that exploits get you banned. Its on the terms of service. I'm not sure why we're giving one person a temporary ban, because then essentially you're giving everyone a temporary ban. Everyone's gonna ask for it. It's easier to just keep him banned. Don't be an idiot and things like this wont happen.

Nostalrius is making a statement. They ban these people and announce that making a new account will lead to closure of this one too.
They dont want to have players with a certain mindset on their server: cheater/hacker/you call it.
Therefore they ban people with a serioulsy bad attitude so others wont get harmed by these individuals.
Let's say papertank would get an temporary ban. He exploited once so the only reason he wouldnt exploit a second time would be the perm ban on the 2nd offense.
So the MINDSET is still there: If there is an exploit, he still would exploit it. We dont want such players in the gaming community or in any at all. Nostalrius seem to be really purist players themselves, those who rage really hard at cheaters in any game.
In Battlefield THE ONLY THING that makes me REALLY mad is cheaters. I can go 1/25 against a pro team but only cheaters will really leave a bad taste in my mouth.
And in another post or this one (?) it was stated that one exploiting rogue made 140g/hour. Tell me how this isnt as bad as the Alcors exploit.

Keep him banned!

Too top it all of,

I play a game called H1Z1 on steam. Pretty fun. The team is in Alpha and any exploits or hacks are instantly banned and permanently. No appeals. No second chances. A lot of games have the same principle and I'm glad Nostalrius has taken this approach. If you get unbanned, we might as well give every cheater a second chance.

You all have stuff in common, you cheated, you knew what you did was wrong, and you continued to do it.

Let me start by saying there is a lot of "grey area" in what this staff will/won't ban for. (ie. certain guilds resetting their raid id and farming multiple instances of molten core/onyxia) without getting banned even after being warned, etc... then next week 50+ accounts are closed for farming relic coffers (some players banned for farming less than 40 gold over a period of 1 hour while not breaking the instance cap).

Why not throw out a warning to players doing the exploit? Why not simply remove the coffers like other servers? Why not move the boss meant to guard the coffers further back into the room so it actually works as intended? Was banning 10 players from a single guild and multiple other rogues from other guilds the most advantageous solution, unlikely for all parties involved, especially when its not bannable anywhere else, why without specific warning is this any different?

All I'm saying is that it seems rather harsh for a bunch of first time offenders who never even knew that they were exploiting.

I don't have enough information by any stretch to make up my mind. But this forum makes a little bit worried about the state of things. Bans flying left and right - and some people not getting banned at all even though there is very clear evidence. Maybe I should stop reading the forum.

Or just have both people talk to the GM simultaneously when they ask you a question. You know, like two actual human beings would.
