If Nostalrius get's shutdown?

What happens if Blizzard wins a lawsuit against Nostalrius?

Greetings everyone! I am new to Nostalrius, and one of the first thing that came to mind was, what happens if the server gets shutdown? Will we lose everything? will you have backups and open a new server with a new name? What will happen? I would love some serious respose to this, before i decide to put a lot of time and effort into characters on this server.

EU laws are not affected by DMCA, so you are safe. Since it is running on unsupported software, iirc EU law allows it. Someone whi knows EU copyright can chime in, but it is my understanding Blizzard can only go after countries in NA.

Blizzard will never get off its ass and go after a server outside America. DMCA is like a cheat or win button; and without it, they won't bother. They want easy mode, just like modern WoW. They can shat all over Twitch, which is hosted in America(DMCA Central), but I chuckle at the thought of them coming after us.

The European Union and each European county have a different "DMCA Takedown" process than the USA. ISP's, websites and service providers can follow their local laws within their country when processing takedowns.
At DMCA.com we are familiar with the process of DMCA Takedowns or Cease and Desist notices within the EU and within every country throughout Europe.

I don't know a lot about international laws or any action EU can do against emulation or subverting hosted services by the game developers, but I know there is something Blizzard is able to do. Since Nostalrius Begins is basically a non-profit organization, I highly doubt Blizzard will spend time taking action against this private server. After all, money makes the world go round.
