Weird Turning Blur/ Camera jitter

Hello, I'm just as excited as everyone to get into vanilla, but something has been bothering me since I installed Nostalrius the other day.

The camera just seems somewhat "jittery" in game, I don't really know how else to describe it.

It is most noticeable when I stand melee range of a mob (with or without nameplates on, but more noticeable with nameplates turned on) and strafe and turn my camera while strafing around it (the closer you are, the more noticeable the blur is though).

I also have a live WoW account and tried standing in melee range of a mob while strafing around it and there was no blur whatsoever.

I've tried messing with every video setting in the game, and my best guesses about what are causing the blur is either 1.) it's the game because it was meant for older systems or just some update was done to live WoW that makes cameras more smooth nowadays 2.) I'm using an AMD/ ATI Radeon vid card (Radeon 6970) or 3.) I just have no idea.

If you guys have any thoughts or fixes, feel free to give input.

Some users have reported similar or same issue and the reason seems to be very powerful video cards that run WoW with 120+ FPS. Try the Graphics thread inside Beginners sub-forum and put all the optimization settings to maximum - that might help.

I have a similar card (Radeon HD 6850) and can atest the card will output more FPS than the refresh rate of most monitors/TVs. Be sure to enable vsync and triple buffering. Depending on the refresh rate of your monitor or TV, you should also set that refresh rate correctly. Below is the norm for NTSC TVs and monitors and the settings in the config.wtf file found in your WTF folder.

Code: Select all
SET gxRefresh "60"
SET gxTripleBuffer "1"
