Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Every time i get to "retrieving character list it's stuck on it for 3-5 minutes. I've never seen this happen before. Is there a way to fix it?

Not that I'm aware of. Mine's taking abnormally long to retrieve as well. Not 3-5 minutes, but at least a minute, minute and a half.

I am currently getting this same problem as well. Also it seems if you try to make a new character you get the long load screen as well as when trying to log in getting disconnected or stuck at a load screen for 2-5 minutes.

I'm having the same issue. The Character retrieval is about 3 min. Then the loading screen after it is about 5 min.

I'm having the same issue. Took me around 1-1.5 minutes for character selection to show up. And now it's been stuck on load screen for 4-5 minutes.

I was having this issue too, but now it just takes a long time for the game world to load once I select a character.

Same issue, since it has only been happening today, and perhaps more importantly it doesn't happen immediately after a server crash, I have a theory that it may be someone doing something on the character database, and the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is perhaps someone is overloading with creation/deletion requests.
