Received gold of a banned character

I got knowledge of the fact that a guild member named Xores got banned for using a gold exploit. However, my guild collected money for my flask of the titans recipe that I've bought for 600g. Xores was one of more than 10 guys who contributed to buy the recipe. He gave me 100gold for that and now I'm afraid to get in suspicion of having something to do with using exploits or that I want to take advantage of people using exploits.
A GM told me I should write to Viper but I also wanted to open a post to make sure I get an answer asap.
