How about your account name in addition to your character?

No need for the account name (can also lead to security issue on a public forum).

This character was never banned: you entered a wrong password too much time.
Try again with the right one.

Thanks for discouraging that. I don't know why everyone keeps telling people to post their account names on here when you could easily temp ban anyone you disliked by entering their password wrong a few times.

It doesn't work like that, it's the IP that gets a temporary ban, not the account.

Nevertheless, on a server that doesn't offer any form of account recovery it seems a little silly to give away half of the information on a public form that you'd need to log onto someone else's account.

There's some inconsistency when it comes to looking up account and character information. I agree with not openly disclosing your account info on the forums but a lot of users here don't speak English very well and rarely ever include either their character name or account name in their first post. After monitoring the support forum for some time, I've seen GMs struggle to get the right info out of users; either their characters names aren't found or their game account names are completely different from their forum account names. In the end, it's simply easier to just ask for the account info because it goes straight to the source.

Ideally, I think it'd be best for all ban inquiries and appeals to be handled through private messages only, that way no account info is openly posted on the forums and leave the support section more open to real support problems like install problems, launcher errors, in-game errors, bugs, etc. But realistically, there's no telling when the GM you PMed will be online to check and you don't want to send multiple PMs to multiple GMs because that'll just slow the process down and possibly get conflicting info.

If there is indeed a security concern over posting account info, maybe we need to bring this to the community's attention and have the staff edit out account names when users post here.
