Can't reset password!

by skritsarn » Mon Jun 22, 2015 12:16 pm

Heya!

I tried to log in to the game this morning, but at first i forgot my password, so i tried alot of different wrong ones, and i read afterwards that it can block your IP for 15min. Now i'm pretty sure i remember what it was, and i've waited a few hours, but i still cant log in. I tried resetting the password from the site, but it says the account has been active recently, so i cant. The weird thing is i haven't played since a few days back.

It really seems like my account has been hacked, but i have no idea how that would have happened as i recently reformatted my computer and cant possibly have any viruses on it. Does accounts here get hacked frequently for some reason? Or is it something else that is wrong with my account?

I'd appreciate any help :)

Thanks!

Accounts are automatically locked for 15 minutes if they receives too many unsuccessful login attempts. If you've forgotten your password, you can recover your account by using the password recovery service.
Code: Select all
https://en.nostalrius.org/password

Keep in mind that this service only activates 24 hours after the last login. The password recovery service was created to recover accounts whose owner had forgotten the password, it wasn't designed to recover hacked accounts. Nostalrius does not/cannot recover any lost/hacked accounts. The account owner is solely responsible for the security of the account and the computer he accesses it with. In the event that someone has gained unauthorized access to your account and you're unable to regain access. You're only chance is that they've not changed the email address and they're offline for longer than 24 hours.

Thanks for answering!

I understand that it's not designed for recovering accounts. But i really cannot understand how someone might have gotten hold of my login information for this. I am 100% it's not because of any virus, so it just seems strange to me! So i was basically just wondering if there was any known bugs or something else that could cause this to happen.

Please make sure that your username and password is unique for this service alone. If you have Wi-Fi at home, I suggest that you make sure that only you/family members are using it. There are ways for people to spoof their PC as the router and sniff out data going through. There are also certain Malware that is able to hide inside ram and other conspicuous places to survive a reformat. Most PC users believe that an anti-virus program protects them from Malware, but this isn't true. If you don't have a dedicated anti-malware program on your PC, I suggest you download one. I personally suggest Malwarebytes for Malware and something like Nod 32 for anti-virus, although there are many good ones for virus protection. Stay away from McAfee and Windows Defender. Once you're sure that it's secure to login, change your password on your email. You can also wait for staff to respond as to if someone are using the Account.
