Cannot name character after deleted character

Recently I found out my level 18 nelf druid 'Tiradari' was deleted and no longer exists. I was mildly upset but I wasnt that far into my character so it was okay with me. So I went to go create a human warlock under the same name (its a name I love) and it says character creation failed. So does this mean that my druid still exists or did someone steal my name? Thanks!

I would imagine one of the following has happened:

- Someone else has taken the name

- That it sits on a database somewhere and may need a purge on it

- Its locked somehow on a database so it thinks your druid is still in the game.

To my knowledge, characters are only deleted by the person who owns the account. Characters that have been banned for whatever reason (Account hacked/stolen, modified client, botting, etc.) are not deleted as the admins maintain a database of all banned characters for reference purposes.

Besides, "character creation failed" is not the error you get when a name is already taken. I think there's a dedicated message for that, like "That name is unavailable." The error "character creation failed" is because you're trying to create a character on a realm you're not suppose to be playing on. Check this sticky out for more info. Follow the steps to ensure you don't have the "Player Test Realm" selected when trying to create a character.
