Issues regarding banning accounts

by Robin0120 » Wed Jul 08, 2015 4:36 pm

Dear GM,

I want to know on what circumstances an account might be banned in the game.

First of all, please allow me to thank you for all the efforts you have made in maintaining this amazing WOW server. My friends and I really enjoy ourselves in playing the game. However, we are concerned that whether some tricks which we practised frequently in retail WOW would result in our accounts being banned. We don't want to risk losing our accounts. So could you please tell me the code you have set and we should abide by regarding banning an account?

More specifically for myself, I am playing a rogue in the game. I needed gold to buy myself a mount. So I did enter some dungeons, using skill "pick pocket" to obtain silver and junk boxes from mobs. In that way, I managed to save enough gold, which took quite a long time, for the 40 level mount. From GM point of view, do you think I am OK to do that?

Looking forward to your reply.

Regards
Robin

Greetings,

Please read the Terms of Use for this server, in the Announcement forum or click the link in my signature.
There you will find our rules, which GM's are guided when they apply a sanction to an account.

What he's actually asking, is something I would like a clarification too.
He's basically saying that he enters some lower dungeons just to sneak by mobs pickpocketing everything, (even without killing??) which I did/do in retail in vanilla , TBC, WoTlK, Cata, *heavily* on MoP, and in WoD.
It's not cheating, hacking, abusing the game mechanics (Hell, it's a Rogue for god's sake), but the basic style of playing a rogue.
I'd also like to know how strict the policy in the server is. My next char after i *finally* will get my main ready is going to be a Rogue anyway..

P.S yeah, I *did* read the rules, but you can render it both ways. since picking pockets *is* an advantage for rogues that no other class gets == bannable, BUT it's also a basic skill rogues have == clever use of game mechanics.

Okay, so it's allways Paragon vs Method vs some-unknown-guild on every tier.
Why not make things a bit more interesting, and make them ALL raid Vanilla instead?

Not bannable. Every rogue has pickpocket farmed SM and LBRS at one point in their playtime. It's a good source of income.

The only mass ban of rogues was when the lockboxes had a high drop rate on epic quality items and rogues were abusing this to make a profit off of the lockboxes pickpocketed from the mobs. Other than that, you should be free to do as you please because you only get 5 instance resets per hour. Mobs that have been pickpocketed cannot have their loot table regenerate so after you take the silver and other items during the pickpocket process, the mob is basically useless if you don't kill it.

Just some clarification on why pickpocketing isn't bannable:
I'm a mage and if you do: /who z-"Dire Maul" c-"Mage" 58-60 -- you would see a lot of mages in Dire Maul East farming the Whip Lashers. We're using AoEs to farm them for about 7-20+ gold per 5 instance resets. As far as I know, the 11 other mages that I know have not been banned by doing this because it's not abusing a game mechanic at all. It's doing what this was intended and playing by the rules of the 5 instance resets per hour.

To be honest, I don't really get what this is supposed to mean:

D - Last warning
Organized killing for farming rank and/or honor.

Premades, Open-world PvP groups are not allowed?

No.

This means that if we find a group of players killing each other in turns, in order to farm honour, without actually fighting, it's a bannable offense after one warning. Say you are Alliance and you have a buddy on Horde side. You go to some empty spot near a graveyard and take turns killing each other so that you both get as much honour as possible. That kind of stuff.
