Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I am experiencing an issue that many people seem to be experiencing today. I tried to log into my account and was immediately disconnected. After checking my internet connection and verifying that there wasn't a network issue, I came to the forums. I read that changing account password would work. So, I followed a link posted by an admin and logged into my account but seen that the account password needs to be changed in game using a command. I logged out of my account on this website and then tried to log back in to see if maybe there was a link that I had missed, but I was given an error saying that I can't change my account password due to recent activity on the account. Could someone please assist me on this issue?

I uninstalled Nost Wow and then was able to reconnect to my account. As a precaution I tried the .account password command in game. It said my password was changed. I logged out to check to see if the password had changed and I was not able to connect. I used my old password and was able to log on.... will the password change take time to take effect?

I don't know if the ingame password change has a certain waiting time but the password reset feature becomes available when the account has been offline for 24 hours or longer.
